Their
shared vision for entrepreneurship, the way they work together
as a team and a rare friendship laid the foundation for Servant
Investments.
Robb Chapin grew up in an entrepreneurial family and therefore
starting his own company is something that has always has
been a part of who he is. Raised in Christiansburg, Virginia,
Robb’s family runs the oldest continuous running John
Deere Dealership in America based in Southwestern Virginia.
Rick Steinberger was born in Statesboro, Georgia and grew
up primarily in Huntsville, Alabama. He followed his long
standing dream of entrepreneurship into restaurant ownership.
Their various career paths eventually crossed and for a period
of 7 years they worked together at a publicly traded real
estate investment trust based in Orlando, Florida. It was
during this time that they realized how effective they were
together as a team and eventually became aware that they shared
the same values and visions for starting their own companies.
While neither of them felt compelled to go it alone, after
seeing what they could accomplish together, they realized
that by co-founding a company they could both achieve their
goals.
In July of 2005, they launched Servant Investments. The first
few months of which were spent working out of their homes
and cars. They often laugh about those early days, when their
conference room was their car, with their cell phone placed
between them on speakerphone. That is precisely where some
of their first transactions took place. In August of that
same year they moved into their first office space in downtown
Orlando. By August of 2007, 23 employees added to the payroll
and over $120 million in total real estate investments capital
later, they will have made their third move into larger office
space.
The joy of it all has been accomplishing their original goal
of being an efficient and predictable capital source to their
development partners, for projects they believe in, and consistently
delivering strong investment returns to their investors. All
the while not wavering from their strong core values and building
long term relationships with all of their clients and investors.
They feel incredibly blessed to have assembled the team of
Servant employees who share their core values and commitment
to providing the highest levels of service to their clients.
